Understanding patient and family unmet needs about biomarkers in multiple myeloma

Description
The biomarker landscape for multiple myeloma is rapidly evolving, and new discoveries mean that soon additional markers may be available to detect disease earlier and guide treatment. This is likely to introduce increasing complexity into care and conveying complex information to patients can be challenging. Currently little is known about biomarker informational needs: for example, how biomarker information is delivered to patients, how much patients and families understand about current biomarkers and what it means for them, how much they would like to know and how they prefer to receive this information. Once this is understood the project will continue into co-designing patient resources. This project is part of a larger MRFF grant with a number of stakeholders including Monash University.
