Understanding health service engagement with family and carers.

Description
There is clear evidence for the value for all stakeholders of carer and family involvement in a service user's health care. A major gap in the literature is that there is a limited understanding of how health services should engage with family and carers. Our research group has recently completed a study that examined the engagement practices that are required in mental health services and recommended that future research should look to expand that work into other health domains such as somatic illnesses (e.g. cancer), substance use and/or aged care. The aim of this research would be to focus on one of these health domains. PhD students may be eligible for a scholarship and School of Rural Health BMedSc(Hons) students are eligible for financial support.
