Therapists' perceptions of web-based applications to create and monitor exercise programs

Description
Many rehabilitation professionals are starting to use web-based applications to create and monitor exercise programs for their patients. These applications aim to improve recovery from injury by allowing professionals to tailor a program to their patient's needs using a database of hundreds of evidence-based exercises. One example is the TrackActive platform which allows practitioners to create a program and send it directly to their patient. Using a smartphone app, patients are then able to log exercise program completion, session difficulty, as well as symptoms via their mobile phone. This project aims to survey rehabilitation professionals who are current and former users of TrackActive to gather their perceptions of how user-friendly and effective this platform is, and whether there are specific patient groups for whom it is best suited. It will be supervised by Associate Professor Lisa O'Brien (Dept of Occupational Therapy) and Carmel Bain (a creator of a Hand and Upper lImb exercise app) - both are Hand Therapists with extensive clinical experience.
