Substance Use and Acquired Brain Injury – systematic review of ‎treatment compliance and engagement in rehabilitation

Description
Many individuals with an acquired brain injury, such as a stroke or ‎traumatic brain injury, experience significant and long lasting ‎physical, cognitive, behavioural and emotional impairments. These ‎outcomes are associated with reduced quality of life for the ‎individual and burden on loved ones. As such, engagement with ‎rehabilitation and treatment is a key goal in their recovery. ‎However, problems with substance abuse may negatively impact ‎upon their ability to engage with such treatment programs. This ‎project will involve conducting a systematic review of studies which ‎have examined compliance/ engagement in rehabilitation for ‎populations with acquired brain injury and substance abuse. We ‎will also conduct a meta-analysis if there is scope. ‎
