Study of Indigenous Muscle & Bone Ageing - Education (SIMBA-ED). Co-created, culturally embedded bone health education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities

Description
Aim: To implement and scale a national, Community-led, culturally embedded bone health education program within ACCHOs and health systems to improve osteoporosis prevention, screening and management for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the life course. Rationale: Our Victorian qualitative study demonstrated strong Community demand for locally delivered, co-created, life-stage–specific, visual and holistic musculoskeletal health education, grounded in Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing. It identified critical gaps in screening access, culturally safe care and health literacy, alongside clear implementation solutions defined by Community. SIMBA-ED is the implementation vehicle to translate these findings into practice and policy. https://www.mja.com.au/journal/2025/223/2/bone-health-perspectives-among-indigenous-people-qualitative-study
