Seizure score to differentiate focal from generalised epilepsies

Description
Epilepsies are broadly divided into focal and generalized groups based on clinical and EEG features. This distinction is very important in the management as the treatment pathways are different between the two groups. However, this distinction is not always straightforward and some patients need more detailed testing such as video-EEG monitoring at tertiary centres. The seizure score is based on a questionnaire aimed at key historical and semiological features of seizures. We will apply this score to well-characterized cohorts of focal and generalized epilepsies from a tertiary centre diagnosed by an epilepsy specialist, to investigate the diagnostic specificity and sensitivity of this tool.
