Description
Clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) not only reflects malignant conditions, such as acute myeloid leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndrome, but is also found in individuals without haematological disease. Because of this, there is growing interest in CHIP as an emerging prognostic and predictive biomarker for personalised, risk-directed interventions. However, as this is an emerging area, many uncertainties remain, and it is desirable to conduct longitudinal studies and other research. This study would explore how these uncertainties could be perceived by individuals, the best way to communicate the uncertainty and the appetite for involvement in such research to allow for patient-centred and informed research design in future research. A suitable student will be supported to develop skills in mixed-methods and/or qualitative research design within a world-leading research unit focused on haematological diseases, transfusion, and other supportive care. Additionally, the student will be supported to publish the findings in a peer-reviewed journal.
