Refining a Measure of Adolescent Reproductive Coercion: A Cognitive Interview Study

Description
This project will use cognitive interviews with adolescents and young people to refine a scale designed to measure reproductive coercion (RC). The study will probe how adolescents interpret survey items, testing language, clarity, and relevance, to assess whether the newly developed measure captures adolescent realities of RC. Results will provide evidence to strengthen the validity and reliability of this tool for research and practice. By focusing on the measurement aspect, this project contributes to the development of robust, youth-appropriate instruments for studying RC. This project sits within SPHERE, an NHMRC-funded Centre of Research Excellence in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Women in Primary Care. SPHERE is led by Professor Danielle Mazza and supported by multidisciplinary students and researchers in the Department of General Practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of this team with support from supervisors.
