Description
Electronic Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (e-PROMs) provide standardised and validated questionnaires for patients to report their symptoms and concerns, enabling patient and family involvement in their health journey whilst promoting shared decision-making and better communication with healthcare providers (HCPs). Although real-world population-based studies for e-PROMsS have demonstrated improved patient survival and reduced rates of emergency department presentations and hospitalisations, routine use of e-PROMs in palliative care clinic settings is limited. In an earlier co-design phase, a generic e-PROM platform was adapted and technically configured to incorporate a validated multilingual palliative care PROM was adapted and technically configured for use in a mobile app to create an e-PROM. The co-design phase also proposed a model for use. A multilingual palliative care e-PROMs tool and utilisation paradigm including technical configuration has been developed during a co-design phase to modify a generic palliative care ePROM. Here, we describe the protocol for a feasibility study to integrate this multilingual e-PROMs tool into routine clinical care at a tertiary hospital’s supportive and palliative care outpatient clinics, oncology supportive care clinics and outreach services. The overarching aim of this study will be to assess acceptability and safety in real-world implementation.
