MRI Biomarkers of Brain Changes Following Traumatic Brain Injury

Description
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can cause progressive changes to brain structure that may persist long after the initial injury. This PhD project will investigate how the brain changes over time following TBI using advanced MRI analysis and computational neuroimaging techniques. Building on our previous research demonstrating longitudinal cortical thinning following TBI, the project will use clinical MRI data and automated brain morphometry to investigate changes in cortical thickness, volume and surface area, and their relationship with injury severity and recovery. The research aims to identify imaging biomarkers that improve our understanding of long-term brain remodelling following TBI and may ultimately help predict patient outcomes.
