Mitochondrial retrograde stress signalling and health

Description 
Studies from lower order organisms such as flies and worms have shown that mild mitochondrial dysfunction invokes a stress response that promotes longevity. Here using a combination of dietary interventions, anti-diabetic drugs, and a mouse model of mitochondrial dysfunction, we aim to uncover a novel signalling node downstream of mitochondrial stress that promotes positive adaptations towards improved health. In particular, we will identify critical components of this pathway and then test these using a Crispr-Cas9 screening to then conduct proof of principle mouse experiments to verify this in vivo.
