Implementation of Consumer and Community Involvement in a range of Health and Healthcare improvement Contexts

Description
A range of projects are available and led by national leaders in the implementation of Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research. Active involvement of people with lived experience or patients (consumers) to improve healthcare services and health and medical research is fundamental to systemwide healthcare change. Known as Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI), this space is a rapidly advancing field and we are undertaking significant work to embed genuine, best practice CCI in research and health services to deliver value and improved outcomes to our community. A selection of project topics is available with ability to tailor them to a specific health condition of interest. These projects will offer students opportunity to upskill in mixed methods and qualitative research methods, co-design methodology, consumer and community involvement and implementation science. Major current projects in this area include: - Developing National Best Practice Guidelines and Standards for Stakeholder and Consumer collaboration using mixed methods (including consensus methods) - Examining the role of consumers and community involvement in patient safety - Effectiveness of Consumer and Community Involvement in Implementing Interventions that change Clinical Practice - Understanding the spectrum of Co-design in Health Research - Investigating Narratives of Excellence in Consumer and Stakeholder Engagement - Developing a Program of Education for Health Professionals in Consumer and other Stakeholder Engagement - Identifying Best Practice Implementation of Consumer and Community Involvement Successful applicants will be embedded within a nationally leading multidisciplinary team with over 45 PhD students embedded in clinical care, providing vast networking and career development opportunities. Ideally, this work is best suited for students with an interest in medical education, research translation, working with patients in a specific health condition and with a passion for delivering impactful and meaningful research.
