Food or bodies: Examining subtypes of disordered eating

Description
This project aims to explore disordered eating and body image disturbance, with the goal of exploring underlying trigger stimuli. The basic premise is that certain individuals might be more triggered by food and food-related stimuli, whereas others are triggered by bodies and body-related stimuli. However, this idea has not been tested in the existing literature. This project will aim to test both clinical and non-clinical populations to better understand differences in how disordered eating and body image disturbance present as a reflection of how people attend to and perceive bodies and food. Attention will be assessed using attentional blink, visual search, and dot probe tasks. Perception will be assessed using binocular rivalry.
