Financial Burden of Living with Chronic Illness in Australia

Description
People affected by chronic conditions (for example, cancer, musculoskeletal conditions) experience high levels of personal financial burden, for reasons including out-of-pocket costs and loss of paid work. This financial burden impacts on people's psychosocial health, but evidence also suggests that financial burden is associated with poorer clinical outcomes and overall quality of life. This project aims to examine patients' experiences of financial burden, and how they practically navigate complex systems of healthcare and welfare.
