Eating disorders and disordered eating in nutrition and dietetics

Description
It is well established that students in nutrition and dietetic-related degrees have a high prevalence of eating disorders and disordered eating. Around 30% of students come into the degree with a lived experience with an eating disorder. During their tertiary training, 50% of students experience signs of disordered eating and 75% have body image disturbance. Nutrition and dietetic pedagogy promote disordered behaviours such as label checking, energy tracking, interest in others' intake and immersion in dialogue about the ‘healthfulness’ of food. However, there is currently no understanding of how to address this issue from a curricula/ faculty perspective.
