Development and application of new PET radiotracers for neuroinflammation

Description 
Neuroimaging provides a multitude of non-invasive methods to better understand the pathology and pathogenesis of neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. MRI and PET not only aid in the diagnosis of diseases, but through the identification of biomarkers can inform on a patients' prognosis and response to treatment. This project is focussed around the preclinical development of novel PET radiotracers that specifically target aspects of neuroinflammation - such as astrocytes and reparative microglia, and the subsequent evaluation of these new tracers in animal models of neurological diseases (including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury).
