The Deep End Living Lab - Equity in Primary Care

Description
Are you passionate about improving primary care access and healthcare quality for priority populations? We are looking to work with BMedSci students who have a demonstrated interest in health equity for priority populations. Research experience will be looked upon favourably but is not a prerequisite. About the opportunity: The Equity, Primary Care, Implementation and Community (EPIC) Research Unit works closely with health services, community organisations and consumers to improve the quality of primary care available to people from priority groups. Our current projects span alcohol harm reduction, improving health care access for people experiencing unstable housing/homelessness and several chronic disease management initiatives to reduce the impact of obesity and Type 2 diabetes. We are keen to welcome a suitable BMedSci student to join our team during 2024 to work across a number of projects. Our research team is a hybrid working group with our time split between the Peninsula campus and offsite work. The successful student will have the opportunity to gain core research skills including: - literature reviews - qualitative data collection and early analysis - consumer and community engagement - academic manuscript preparation/report writing Our goal is for a BMedSci student to publish a first-author publication as a result of their work. This will assist the student in their ongoing research career.
