Can rats play rock paper scissors? Transitive inference in rodents

Description
Transitive inference is a fundamental cognitive function and the basis of deductive reasoning that allows one to derive a relation between objects/qualities that have not been previously compared in an explicit manner. Here we have developed a version of the rock paper scissors game for rodents to identify the cognitive mechanisms underlying transitive inference in a sensory environment in rats.
