Description
Two PhD scholarships at Monash University are available through the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence grant: Optimising the Emergency Response to Save Lives – An Aus-ROC Centre of Research Excellence (https://www.ausroc.org.au). This scholarship provides a stipend of $ 36,063 p.a. (pro rata indexed) based on full-time studies for a maximum of 3 years, pending satisfactory progress each year.
These scholarships provide a full-time PhD stipend to support research to improve survival outcomes for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
The PhD topic is negotiable but must align with the Aus-ROC CRE research program. This program focuses on developing, testing, and implementing strategies to enhance OHCA recognition and response during the critical minutes following an event. Research approaches may include clinical studies, epidemiology, public health, health services, psychosocial aspects, linguistics, statistical methods, or spatial analysis.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
1. Be Australian and New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents (ie "Domestic" students - Full-time enrolment).
2. Have prior qualifications and excellent academic record in a field relevant to the PhD topic (including medicine, nursing, paramedicine, health science, psychology, health promotion, spatial analysis, linguistics, epidemiology, artificial intelligence, biostatistics).
3. Meet the criteria for admission to a PhD at Monash University https://www.monash.edu/admissions/entry-requirements/minimum
4. Have evidence of expertise in research methodology or willingness to learn.
5. Have well-developed computer skills.
Application process
Expressions of interest are invited to be submitted electronically to Professor Janet Bray via email janet.bray@monash.edu and must include the following:
• a current CV with a full citation of all publications;
• a statement about your research interests (maximum one page);
• academic transcripts for every degree you hold;
• the names of two referees, at least one being an academic referee.
This will allow initial consideration of suitability for enrolment into a PhD and for the scholarship award. An interview will be arranged with eligible candidates. Applications will remain open until the PhD scholarship has been awarded.
