Investigating the health impacts of micro- and nanoplastics: from nanomaterials and measurement to experimental models and cell biology

Description
Micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) are increasingly detected in human tissues, yet major questions remain about where they accumulate and how they affect health. This interdisciplinary Honours/Masters/PhD project combines nanotechnology, analytical chemistry and biomedical science to develop realistic MNP models, new technologies for particle detection, advanced experimental models (including microfluidic and organ-on-chip systems), and investigate cellular and physiological responses to MNP exposure. Projects can be tailored to candidates from diverse backgrounds, including nanotechnology, polymer or materials science, chemistry, engineering, biotechnology, cell biology and immunology.
