Brain edema after medium vessel occlusion: insight from amnion cell therapy trial

Description
Brain edema occurs soon after stroke onset. This occurrence can be visually difficult to detect early, To accentuate this detection, we use a concept known as net water uptake by comparing side to side difference in the region of interest. The computation is performed on non-contrast CT scan. Patients with suspected stroke undergo contrast perfusion CT image. The aim of this project is to observe the trend and evolution of brain parenchyma post-ischaemic stroke. We leverage existing data from the NHMRC funded Amnion Cell therapy trial. The student will lean image processing method and voxel-based analysis. The processing will involve image registration.
