Co-developing a measure of mental health tailored to acquired brain injury

Description
Mental health problems are among the most common and persistent consequences of acquired brain injury (ABI), yet there is currently no comprehensive mental health assessment tool specifically designed for people living with ABI. Existing measures were developed for the general population and may not adequately capture the unique ways mental health symptoms present following brain injury. As such, this project will contribute to the development, validation, and implementation of a novel transdiagnostic mental health measure tailored to people with ABI. The student will have opportunities to obtain feedback on the validity of the measure from individuals with lived experience of ABI, evaluate the psychometric properties of the measure, develop norms, and contribute to translation activities such as development of a manual, resources for providing feedback, and training for clinicians. The project offers a unique opportunity to create a clinically useful tool with direct applications for assessment, treatment planning, and research in neurorehabilitation. The project is suitable for a PhD student (Clin Psych / Clin Neuro).
