Predictors of response to ambulatory oxygen in people with pulmonary fibrosis.

Description
Ambulatory oxygen is a common treatment for people with pulmonary fibrosis, but not all patients benefit to the same extent. This project will examine characteristics of responders to ambulatory oxygen using data from the PFOX trial, a randomised sham controlled trial of portable oxygen concentrators in people with pulmonary fibrosis. We will examine whether there are characteristics of participants that are associated with meaningful improvements in physical activity in daily life, breathlessness and fatigue. The results of this study will help patients and health professionals to evaluate the benefits vs burdens of ambulatory oxygen for individual patients, and inform shared decision-making.
