Description
Associated with an average mortality of 15.9%, status epilepticus (SE) is a serious neurological emergency. Rapid termination of seizure activity is of critical importance in the management of SE. Longer latency to administer the first antiseizure medication to terminate SE has been found to be associated with higher mortality and poor functional outcomes. There is a lack of local data. This study aims to investigate the association between the latency to the first dose of benzodiazepines and outcomes based on admissions with SE to the emergency departments at Monash Health hospitals.
